Craig Duewall

Professional Biography

Craig A. Duewall has nearly a decade of experience representing both claimants and defendants in complex cases involving: securities fraud, officer and director liability, construction matters (residential and commercial), real estate, commercial landlord and tenant disputes, business and partnership disputes, employee and employer rights, insurance coverage, and trademark registration.  Mr. Duewall is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Texas and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit.  He is licensed in Texas, having graduated from South Texas College of Law.  Mr. Duewall is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Federal Bar Association’s Litigation Section, member of the Travis County Bar Association’s Construction Section as well as Director of the Litigation Section.

Representative Experience

  • Assisted in defending officer, general partner and venture capital promoter against security fraud claims, wherein the plaintiffs sought to recover their initial investments and other damages exceeding $50,000,000.00.
  • Assisted in successfully prosecuting claims on behalf of condominium homeowners’ association against the condominium’s original developer and the homeowners’ association’s insurance carrier. Claims related to the insurance company’s wrongful denial of insurance and the condominium developer’s original planning, design and construction of the condominiums.
  • Assisted in obtaining $1,800,000.00 pre-judgment writ of attachment against a publicly traded corporation that abandoned an entire office building and breached its commercial lease agreement.
  • Successfully responded to numerous Office Actions before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, relating to the USPTO’s denial of trademark registration. Successfully represented broadcaster that sought trademark protection for its historical sports broadcasts/programming.
  • Successfully represented frozen foods distributor that sought trademark protection for its Chinese frozen food varieties.

Craig Duewall

Craig was born in Corpus Christi, raised in Plano, and he fell in love with Austin (and his future wife Nicky) at the South by Southwest Music Festival in 1995.  Following his graduation from law school in 1999, Craig immediately moved to Austin and he has remained active in Austin’s Civic and Legal Communities.  He is an active member of Tarrytown Methodist Church, he has participated in Leadership Austin, he is a monthly volunteer at the Austin Resource Center for the Homeless, he participates in food and gift delivery for the Austin Bar Association’s Holiday Baskets Program, and he maintains his connection to Texas A&M University by participating in the Capital City A&M Club (serving as the President of the Aggie Attorney Group from 2000-2003).  Craig also serves as a mentor to the student members of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity at Texas A&M, and in 2003 he formed a non-profit corporation that awards scholarships and assists in sending undergraduate fraternity members to academic and leadership conferences throughout the United States. 

Craig is married to Nicky Duewall and together they have two girls Anna Katherine and Elizabeth Grace.
