Professional Biography

For more than 20 years, J. Stephen Gibson has concentrated his practice in representing clients post-verdict and on appeal and in providing guidance on matters of insurance coverage and extra-contractual liability. Among the more notable insurance cases in which Mr. Gibson has been involved are the seminal bad faith decision by the Texas Supreme Court in National Union v. Dominguez and the same court’s recent per curiam decision in Chrysler Ins. Co. v. Greenspoint Dodge concerning the application of knowing conduct exclusions to corporations. He began his legal career as briefing and research attorney for the Court of Appeals for the 5th District of Texas at Dallas. Mr. Gibson is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit.  He is licensed in Texas, having graduated from Baylor University School of Law.  Mr. Gibson is a member of the American Bar Association, Fifth Federal Circuit Bar Association, Dallas Bar Association, State Bar of Texas, Texas Association of Defense Counsel and Defense Research Institute.
