Professional Biography

John R. (Randy) Thompson, Jr. focuses his practice in the areas of energy, real estate and estate planning and probate.  Mr. Thompson is Board Certified in Commercial Real Estate Law and in Farm and Ranch Real Estate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.  He is admitted to practice before the U. S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, the U. S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit and the U. S. Supreme Court. Mr. Thompson is licensed in Texas, having graduated from The University of Texas School of Law.  He is a member of the American Bar Association, College of State Bar of Texas, Tarrant County Bar Association, Tarrant County Bar Foundation, the State Bar of Texas, Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association and is a Sustaining Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation.

John R. (Randy) Thompson, Jr.

Personal Biography

Randy has been an active member of the Tarrant County community for many decades.  He is a Mason, a Shriner (having served as Captain of the Moslah Temple Shrine Patrol in 1978), member of the Red Cross of Constantine (Sovereign, 1999), of the Royal Order of Jesters as well as Leadership Fort Worth.  He is both a secretary and general counsel of the Texas Masonic Retirement Center in Arlington.  Randy was formerly the chair of the Program Development and Planning Division of the United Way of Tarrant County, as well as serving as Secretary and General Counsel of the United Way of Tarrant County, and he serves on the boards of directors for the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show, First Methodist Church of Fort Worth Foundation and on the Board of Stewards (former Finance Chair) of the First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth. 

Previously, Randy was active with the City of Fort Worth, acting as a former chair of the Zoning Board of Adjustment, and as former chair of the Planning Commission, he served as a member of the Electrical Board as well as the 1980 Charter Review Revisions Commission.  He’s also a past president of the Exchange Club of Fort Worth (2002).
