Established
Shannon Gracey has a long and distinguished history. The firm has been built by skilled lawyers committed to serving their clients and their communities. The firm has contributed a large number of leaders to the practice of law, business and the judiciary.
The firm began in Fort Worth, Texas as Walker, Smith & Shannon in 1938, with its lawyers acting as general counsel for a number of prominent Fort Worth companies involved with banking, oil and railroads. In 1968, the firm merged with Crowley, Wright, Ratliff & Miller, to form Shannon, Gracey, Wright, Ratliff & Miller. James E. Wright withdrew to become a judge, and the firm henceforth has been known as Shannon, Gracey, Ratliff & Miller. Over time, several other former Shannon Gracey partners have gone on to become respected members of the judiciary.

Shannon Gracey has from its earliest days had a balanced practice. The firm's business section has provided a wide-range of services related to real estate, banking, corporate practice, oil and gas, securities, estate planning and probate, tax and employment/labor. This Section has been a leading contributor in a number of critical business and commercial fields, such as real estate, banking, construction and general corporate representation.
Litigation Teamwork
The Litigation Section has a well-earned reputation of aggressively handling all forms of commercial litigation. The Appellate Section is an integral part of the litigation services provided by the firm, distinguishing itself by its involvement in a number of landmark decisions. The Litigation Section has also been a leader in the litigation and handling of insurance disputes and extra-contractual claims, providing guidance in matters involving commercial liability and property policies, professional liability, directors and officers policies, homeowners coverage, recall policies, reinsurance and agents and brokers.
