The Insurance Group at Shannon Gracey
The Insurance Group at Shannon Gracey has unparalleled depth, including six members with more than twenty years of experience in the field of insurance law. Shannon Gracey is on the cutting-edge of numerous insurance coverage, extra-contractual and agent liability issues relating to first and third-party insurance. This respected group has worked with a diverse portfolio of insurance products, such as commercial liability, excess/umbrella, commercial property, professional and executive liability, product recall, crime and fidelity, and reinsurance. The group’s work includes specialized problems such as the management of issues related to insurance fraud, class action allegations, and insurance regulation, including the numerous technical problems presented by surplus lines and Lloyd’s products.
A Comprehensive Approach
The strength of the Insurance Group is depth and experience. The group’s work involves a wide range of practice areas and industries with respect to which the firm is already focused. Whether caused by a natural event such as a hurricane or commercial or financial wrongdoing, the Insurance Group stands ready to help solve the resulting insurance problems.
- Appellate — The Group has a number of attorneys with both insurance and appellate experience. We provide analysis of claims involving director and officer coverage, employment practices liability, and other types of executive insurance critical to business operations.
- Construction — Group members assist with analysis, drafting and negotiation of insurance and indemnity provisions in construction contracts for subcontractors, general contractors, and professionals such as architects and engineers. Our attorneys have addressed the special drafting problems for general contractors involving the right of control and related liability. We also provide analysis of complex construction defect coverage issues.
- Energy — We have provided coverage analysis and advice regarding insurance for oil well accidents and equipment loss involving both loss of property and/or personal injury. The group has also been involved in analysis and litigation of oilfield anti-indemnity provisions.
- Environmental Law — Group members have worked on a number of critical environmental coverage issues, including trigger, allocation, fortuity, and interpretation of the various forms of pollution, asbestos contamination and other similar exclusions.
- Intellectual Property —Our insurance attorneys have provided analysis regarding coverage for patent, copyright and trademark infringement and Lanham Act claims. Some of these have involved related industries, such as claims against homebuilders regarding copyrights on building plans.
- Risk Management — We offer tested experience in drafting, negotiation and litigation of indemnity, insurance procurement, prospective release, exculpatory clause and other such provisions in real estate, construction and other contracts. We also assist with litigation management and the coordination of claims involving competing insurance, indemnity and subrogation issues.
